Until recently, ZUO International, the waste and recycling company based at Kunowice in Poland, used only wheel loaders. However, when the opportunity arose to invest in new mobile equipment, the\u00a0company decided to purchase a\u00a0material handler for the first time, a new Doosan DX250WMH\u20115 wheeled model.<\/p>\n
ZUO International was established thanks to the investments and capital of Sirius Finance S.A. (Luxembourg). As a\u00a0Municipal Waste Treatment Facility, it provides comprehensive waste management, recovery and disposal services. The new Doosan machine was purchased in response to the growing waste stream and to improve processes.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith an additional unit,<\/em> it is much easier to manage the machines in a way that guarantees their optimal use<\/em> and best performance. This is why we didn’t buy<\/em> another wheel loader,<\/em> but rather a\u00a0material handler. This machine enables us<\/em> to easily sort materials<\/em> from a waste heap or load waste into the shredder with precision, because<\/em> the operator, when located several metres above ground level,<\/em> can clearly see the inside of the working chamber<\/em> and can properly distribute the load,\u201d<\/em> explains Rafa\u0142 Ko\u015bciukiewicz, operations manager, ZUO International.<\/p>\n Careful Choice from a Field of Five Competitive Suppliers<\/strong><\/p>\n The purchase decision was made carefully on the basis of a\u00a0tender procedure in which five companies participated. The best proposal was presented by Grausch i\u00a0Grausch Maszyny Budowlane Sp. z o.o., the exclusive Authorized Doosan Dealer in Poland. The proposed machine met all the technical criteria set by ZUO International and had the most attractive price. “The<\/em> DX250WMH<\/em>\u2011<\/em>5<\/em> model perfectly meets our needs.<\/em> Its high performance<\/em> and range in excess of 11\u00a0m make the machine a\u00a0perfect tool for handling<\/em> even the heaviest materials.<\/em> The new machine is used to load<\/em> green waste into a\u00a0shredder<\/em> and screening unit, but we know \u2013 based on previous experience from other facilities \u2013 that it can also<\/em> handle bulk waste,<\/em>” adds Rafa\u0142 Ko\u015bciukiewicz.<\/p>\n He also stresses other important aspects that led to the selection of the offer from Grausch i\u00a0Grausch Maszyny Budowlane, when he adds: “The 6-cylinder, 6-litre engine,<\/em> relatively large for this class of machine,<\/em> provides<\/em> the best<\/em> operating parameters.<\/em> We were also impressed by the low<\/em> noise level in the cab, much lower than in the machines from the competitors<\/em>.”<\/p>\n Initially, ZUO International was concerned about a\u00a0drop in shredder loading efficiency, as the wheel loader used so far has a\u00a04\u00a0m3<\/sup> bucket, while the new material handler is equipped with a semi-open 5\u2011finger gripper with a\u00a0capacity of 0.6\u00a0m3<\/sup>.<\/p>\n As Rafa\u0142 Ko\u015bciukiewicz assures, these fears were completely unfounded. The new machine is fast and guarantees shorter work cycles, so the work efficiency is comparable. He summarises the situation: “The Doosan material handler<\/em> meets our expectations and we are very<\/em> satisfied with it. It does what<\/em> it’s supposed to. Our operator<\/em> likes working in it because of\u00a0 <\/em>the noticeable<\/em> power reserve and spacious, comfortable<\/em> cab.<\/em><\/p>\n Local Partnership<\/strong><\/p>\n Rafa\u0142 Ko\u015bciukiewicz also speaks positively about the Doosan dealer: “The machine was delivered<\/em> on time, and the cooperation with the sales<\/em> representative and service offer were<\/em> perfectly satisfactory. However,<\/em> this is not a surprise,<\/em> as two years ago we purchased a\u00a0Doosan DX300LC-5 crawler excavator from Grausch i\u00a0Grausch,<\/em> so we have already had the opportunity<\/em> to work with them. The machine has worked<\/em> over 5000\u00a0hours so far, but thanks to<\/em> professional, regular maintenance<\/em> it is still in perfect condition and hasn’t<\/em> had any problems. We are very satisfied with<\/em> Grausch i\u00a0Grausch’s services<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n Proven Technology<\/strong><\/p>\n The DX250WMH\u20115 25-tonne material handler was added to the Doosan range at the beginning of 2019. It is based on the Doosan 21\u2011tonne DX210W\u20115 wheeled excavator. It was designed for the toughest applications, such as handling scrap metal. A factory-installed electrical generator used to power the electromagnet eliminates the need for modifications, and additional features, such as cab guards, frame guards, additional work lights and solid rubber tyres, increase the safety of waste handling. The DoosanCONNECT telematics system is standard for the DX250WMH-5 machine and comes with a\u00a03\u2011year subscription. It sends location information and a full range of machine operational information to the owner, dealer and Doosan. This information is sent with the help of a simple user interface, accessible online via a\u00a0web-enabled computer or smartphone. The telematics system enables owners to monitor their Doosan machinery and effectively manage maintenance to reduce general operating costs.<\/p>\n
