{"id":3988,"date":"2021-10-21T16:38:34","date_gmt":"2021-10-21T15:38:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.constructionplantworld.com\/news\/?p=3988"},"modified":"2021-10-21T16:38:34","modified_gmt":"2021-10-21T15:38:34","slug":"john-somers-named-aem-vice-president-construction-utility-sector","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.constructionplantworld.com\/news\/2021\/10\/john-somers-named-aem-vice-president-construction-utility-sector\/","title":{"rendered":"John Somers Named AEM Vice President, Construction &#038; Utility Sector"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>MILWAUKEE (October 21, 2022)<\/strong> \u2013 The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) announced it has named John Somers as its vice president, Construction &amp; Utility Sector, effective immediately.<\/p>\n<p>Somers replaces <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.aem.org\/association-of-equipment-manufacturers-president-dennis-j-slater-to-retire--at-year-end-after-23-years-as-president\/\">Megan Tanel, who will succeed Dennis Slater as AEM President effective January 1, 2022<\/a>. Somers will be responsible for the strategic direction of construction and utility programs and services for AEM membership, and he will serve as the primary liaison to AEM\u2019s CE Sector Board and with CE-specific industry organizations, customer groups and government agencies, both in North America and worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m very pleased to announce John Somers\u2019 promotion to vice president, Construction &amp; Utility Sector,\u201d said Megan Tanel, AEM president-select and current senior vice president of construction &amp; utility sector. \u201cJohn has led the charge with our sector member groups and delivered on AEM priorities and initiatives that build momentum for our industry. His expertise, enthusiasm and industry knowledge will help us achieve continued success.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Somers joined AEM in 2007 and has held various positions with increasing responsibility within the organization over the past 14 years.<\/p>\n<p>Somers serves on the Next Practices Advisory Committee with the Common Ground Alliance (CGA) to encourage innovation and new practices to address the most critical challenges facing the damage prevention industry. He also helped lead the development of the industry\u2019s telematics standard and currently manages AEM\u2019s Engine Emissions Strategy Task Force which is addressing potential regulation impacts on manufacturers and end users.<\/p>\n<p>Somers is an alumnus of Carroll University where he earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in computer science.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About AEM: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.aem.org\/\">AEM<\/a>\u00a0is the North America-based international trade group representing off-road equipment manufacturers and suppliers with more than 1,000 companies and more than 200 product lines in the agriculture and construction-related industry sectors worldwide.
