{"id":4411,"date":"2022-06-28T15:26:31","date_gmt":"2022-06-28T14:26:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.constructionplantworld.com\/news\/?p=4411"},"modified":"2022-06-28T15:26:31","modified_gmt":"2022-06-28T14:26:31","slug":"tarmac-support-the-weir-archer-academy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.constructionplantworld.com\/news\/2022\/06\/tarmac-support-the-weir-archer-academy\/","title":{"rendered":"Tarmac  support  The Weir Archer Academy"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">As part of Tarmac&#8217;s Employee Development Programme, we have tasked to\u00a0\u201cReview and recommend how we can reduce our use of plastics on Tarmac Operations and in Offices\u201d and as part of this project we have organised a fundraiser for the Weir Archer Academy \u2013 Tarmac have supported this charity since 2020 and their aim is to\u00a0help people with disabilities to realise their potential within sports.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">The Weir Archer Academy was founded over 10 years ago by David Weir, CBE and Jenny Archer.\u00a0They have developed a new way of coaching and training which has resulted in the \u2018WeirWolf\u2019, achieving outstanding wheelchair athletics results. David and Jenny now want to pass on their knowledge, experience, and enjoyment of the benefits of sport to the next generation of disabled people. Their ambition is to work with other top class disability coaches and support staff to deliver their unique and innovative method, which harnesses the best on offer to as many disabled athletes as possible, from social members to elite athletes.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof elementToProof\">With all of this in mind, they have completed a 479-mile stationary bike cycle at the Hillhead Quarry Exhibition over the course of 3 days (21<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0June \u2013 23<sup>rd<\/sup> June). They deliberately chose this distance as it is the distance from Hillhead Quarry to Paris which is where the 2024 Paralympics is due to be held.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">\n<p class=\"x_elementToProof elementToProof\">Our Midland EDP sponsorship link is below.
