Arthur Arundel 1924-2021

Sadly, we have to inform you of the death of dear Arthur. Our industry has lost an exceptional man who was known throughout the Contractors Plant industry, as”Mr Reliable”.

Born in Hull , he served a 5 year engineering apprenticeship with Priestman Bros, during which time he was taught just about every1hing there was to know about both the practical and theoretical aspects of heavy engineering. There immediately followed a move into sales, w here his product knowledge added to his negotiating skills gained Priestman profitable orders for their range of Cranes, Draglines and subsequently, Hydraulic Excavators.

In 1984 the financial collapse of the Acrow Group took Priestman with it, following which , Arthur was quickly t aken up by Atlas, for whom he was gainfully employed until retirement (and golf at Berkhamsted ) beckoned.

He leaves behind, his wife Mary, their offspring and, in the Plant industry, a great many who were privileged just to have known him . R.I.P. Arthur.
