Finning team gears up for charity cycle ride

The Finning team are gearing up and getting the miles in ready for the Ziggurat charity cycle challenge event taking place later this month.
Finning, exclusive dealer of Cat® equipment in the UK & Ireland, has drafted in colleagues, customers and a representative from Cat Finance to join this year’s team and who are finalising their training ready to take on the three hundred plus mile-long bike ride from London to Reims between the 14th and 18th of September.
The Finning team is being led by General Manager of the company’s energy and transportation division, Kelly Cole who is joined by her colleagues Reuben Bentham, Andy Leather, Niall Morris and Richard Pollard. Finning customers Brad Perret from Buckland Newton Hire and Ben Dormer from John Wainwright & Co will also join the line-up, with Simon Kinsman from Cat Finance also showing support for Finning as the largest dealership in the world.
The networking tour will see over 90 cyclists, including eight from the Finning team take to the streets of London and travel down through Portsmouth before crossing into France to navigate the Champagne region before finishing in Reims four days later.
This is the second year that Finning has sponsored the Ziggurat bike ride, which is now in its fifth year. The annual event gives people within the construction and built environment sector the chance to network and raise funds to support the vital research at Action Medical Research that tackles challenges that disease and disability present, saving and changing thousands of children’s lives.
Kelly Cole, General Manager for Finning explains:
“The Ziggurat ride has become an important event in our annual calendar so we’re pleased to be supporting the charity event again, and to raise the life-changing funds so Action Medical Research can continue the excellent work they do.
“Our team is comprised of members of the Finning family who’ll be riding alongside some of our customers, and it’s great to also see that Cat Finance is also joining the pack this year, to support such a worthwhile cause.
“Our aim this year is to beat the team’s performance last year with the fundraising total as well as the time it takes us to complete the course – hopefully my training will pay off! We’re also looking forward to spending a few days alongside colleagues from the industry.”
Action Medical Research is a UK-wide children’s charity which funds desperately needed research to tackle the diseases that devastate the lives of so many of our children. It has been funding medical breakthroughs since it began in 1952 including helping to introduce the first polio vaccines in the UK, developing the use of ultrasound in pregnancy and testing the rubella vaccine.
The charity is currently funding research into areas including premature birth, epilepsy, scarlet fever, cerebral palsy, brain cancer and some rare and distressing conditions.
