Mecalac set to lead the way in compact construction equipment

Mecalac Construction Equipment UK Ltd (previously Terex GB) is positioning itself to lead the compact equipment market. Through a comprehensive strategy of investment and expansion, Mecalac aims to continue to set the global standards for innovation, performance and quality with its tried and tested products.
Gregg Horne, General Manager of Mecalac Construction Equipment UK Ltd, commented: “At Mecalac, we want to make our plans for the future clear. Innovation, investment, new product development and process improvement – all working together to position us head and shoulders above the market, not just in the UK but globally.
“Following our acquisition by the Mecalac Group, we have been able to further hone our corporate strategy and drive forward plans to challenge the status quo. Already, we have seen impressive results and wish to continue this momentum over the coming months.
“Last week we attended the PLANTWORX exhibition in Leicestershire, UK. Alongside launching a suite of new products and equipment technologies, we were hugely honoured to have been awarded ‘best operator’ at the show by Earthmovers Magazine, which is testament to the talent of our team and excellence of equipment. The event was excellent – a great indication of the future.”
In addition, we can confirm that Mecalac’s existing site dumper private labelling partnership with JCB will be ending. This decision enables Mecalac to focus on leading the compact equipment market, further expand its network and meet territory customer demand. To complete our backhoe loaders, our site dumpers and our compaction rollers ranges, we now have a new portfolio of products from the Groupe Mecalac to introduce to our network and customer base.
Alongside a series of new product launches and state-of-the-art technology announcements, commencing with several reveals at this year’s PLANTWORX exhibition, the manufacturer plans to further expand its global distributor network and has confirmed considerable investment into research, innovation and new product development.
At the company’s manufacturing headquarters in Coventry (UK), state-of-the-art dumper production lines have been installed to further increase unit volumes and reduce customer lead times. Longer-term plans are also in place to revamp the backhoe loader and compaction roller facilities.
Through these new facilities, alongside the company’s in-house design and engineering department, Mecalac continues to delight customers with ground-breaking models and first-to-market technologies. During the past 12 months alone, the manufacturer has launched a trio of new site dumper features comprising Stop/Start control, Powershift transmission and Autoshift technology. From now, two additional features will be offered– Hazard Detection and Capture telematics.
Benefitting the operator through intuitive design, improved efficiencies, reduced fuel consumption, lower emissions and longer service intervals – all while exceeding on-site safety standards – this suite of new technology has been introduced to revolutionise the compact construction industry. Already delivering real-world results for some of the UK’s most esteemed hire companies, innovation is seemingly helping to shape the future for Mecalac.
As part of this goal, Mecalac has recently on-shored its entire parts supply division and will guarantee at least 95% stock availability, which it aims to continue to improve upon. Urgent parts will be despatched same day around the world, with all dealers supported by weekly stock orders.
A focus on apprenticeships and graduate programmes further adds to the drive, helping to boost the 300-strong Coventry workforce.
Such a pronounced investment focus clearly highlights the company’s vision for the future – to lead the compact equipment market, drive innovation, improve global accessibility, enter new markets and, most importantly, continue to delight customers.
