Merritts add to transport fleet with £120k Trailer investment

Heavy machinery moving specialists Joseph Merritt Group Plc has further invested in its transport fleet following the purchase of a new Nooteboom trailer.

The new Nooteboom 4 axle semi low loader, cost £120,000 and will be used primarily to transport the company’s fleet of 36 Te Versa-Lift 60/80 forklift trucks.

Commenting on the investment, Managing Director, James Merritt said, “We are primarily an engineering business which specialises in the removal, transport and installation of heavy machinery. This requires us to have a continuous programme of re-investment in our transport and lifting equipment. Ensuring we offer a machinery moving service using a modern fleet of vehicles is an important facilitator in winning new work as we are acting as an extension of our clients brand.”

The new trailer was ordered with features that are bespoke to the needs of the heavy machinery moving industry. These features and specifications include; Special floor reinforcement to withstand high point loads, electric remote control axle steering, air suspension with raise and lower function, extra-long hydraulic folding ramps with hydraulic sliding functionality  and SAF axles.

Joseph Merritt Group PLC is a 96 year old family owned business. It was founded as Joseph Merritt & Son in 1922 and was incorporated in 1974. It is now a leading specialist in the lifting, removal, transportation, installation and storage of heavy machinery.

The company has a turnover of £6m and employs a team of 45 personnel who work from a fully equipped storage and bonded warehousing facility based in Kirkby in Ashfield, Nottingham

It has a blue chip client base of leading manufacturers and supply chain partners in industries that use heavy machinery such as aerospace, defence, automotive, print, plastics & rubber, food production and waste recycling industries.
